The Children's Surgery Foundation was founded by Clinicians over 37 years ago to raise funds for urgently needed equipment and items to make stays at the hospital more welcoming and pleasant for children and their families. It was previously known as the Chelsea Children's Hospital Charity.
In 2019 it changed its name to reflect a newly formed close collaboration with the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons and an expanding vision. The Charity works to advance innovation in paediatric surgery, trains paediatric surgeons worldwide in contemporary surgical skills and carries out research to ensure improved child health.
The Charity's 3 patrons - Lord Norwich, Susan Hampshire and Jane Asher have recently been joined by Royal Patron Sophie, Lady Frederick Windsor (pictured) who is an actress and also known by her maiden name Sophie Winkleman.
The Chairman of the Charity Board is Senior Consultant Paediatric and Neonatal Surgeon Mr Munther Haddad. He is pictured with Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall and the robot he led an appeal to raise more than £1m for.
In June 2020 The Children's Surgery Foundation appointed Silks PR & Marketing to mange its PR, social media and direct marketing.
