Romney Tweed Community Interest Group was founded in 2014 to encourage local industry and tourism in the Romney Marsh and Dungeness area of Kent. It is a niche producer designing luxury tweeds from Romney wool which are spun and woven in limited editions in Yorkshire.
It produces 3 cloth collections which are available to buy online with prices starting from £110 per metre:
- The Heritage Collection of 16 tweeds inspired by and named after historical churches on Romney Marsh;
- The Coastal Collection of 10 contemporary small-scale diamond weave tweeds inspired by the sounds and senses of the Kent coastline and including 5 new colours for 2021;
- The Prospect Collection of 4 new yellow and black tweeds for 2021 inspired by Derek Jarman's Dungeness Prospect cottage.
Romney Tweed are experts in developing bespoke tweeds and in making a range of consumer products, such as weekend bags, throws, cushions and scarves, locally by hand.
In 2021 Romney Tweed appointed Silks PR & Marketing to handle its PR.
